Ben Guiot, MD, FRCSC
Dr. Ben Guiot joined South Denver Neurosurgery in August 2008. He is board certified by both the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Guiot received his medical degree from the University of Ottawa School of Medicine in Canada. He completed his neurosurgical residency training at the University of Ottawa before embarking on post graduate training in spine. Dr. Guiot completed three fellowships in spinal disorders: the first in pediatric spinal deformity in the Department of Orthopedics at McGill University in Montreal, and the other two in complex adult reconstructive surgery in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida. He has spent the last ten years in academic institutions in the United States devoting himself to the practice of spinal surgery.
His expertise in spine has led him to undertake the most challenging cases, often referred to him by his neurological and orthopedic colleagues. He has been an active participant in research, publishing 30 articles in peer reviewed journals as well as numerous book chapters. He also served as course director or faculty at more than 40 courses both nationally and internationally. In addition, Dr. Guiot directed the biomechanics lab and was the director of the spine fellowship program at the University of South Florida.
Dr. Guiot brings a unique skill set to spine surgery. The years of fellowship training and academic institutions have allowed him to join a very select group of individuals who can truly address a broad spectrum of spine disorders. Dr. Guiot also acts as the Medical Director of Neurosurgery at Littleton Adventist Hospital.
